What is Skookum?

From Wikipedia...
A skookum is a variety of mountain giant or monster similar to the Sasquatch or Bigfoot. Skookums were bad spirits or devils of which crows, eagles, owls, blue jays, various beasts and reptiles could be representations. They could inhabit people and cause serious illness.

It also has a range of positive meanings. The word can mean 'good', 'strong', 'best', 'powerful', 'ultimate', or 'brave'. Something can be skookum meaning 'really good' or 'right on! excellent!', or it can be skookum meaning 'tough' or 'durable.' When used in reference to another person, e.g. "he's skookum," it conveys connotations of trustworthiness, reliability and honesty as well as (but not necessarily) strength and size. Being called skookum may also mean that someone can be counted on as reliable and hard-working, or is big and strong.

"Pilchuck" Gamer Tag History:
Many years ago, when I first went online with my Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3), I chose Mount Pilchuck as the namesake of my gamer tag. That mountain was one of my absolute favorite places to hike for the brief time that I lived in the Seattle, Washington area and the name made for a unique and satisfying online moniker.

From Wikipedia...
The name "Pilchuck" originated from the Native American name of "red water" for a creek in the area. The U.S. Forest Service built a fire lookout on the summit in 1918 which was staffed until the 1960s. A ski-area was also located on the slopes of Mt. Pilchuck from 1957-1980 before it was closed due to poor ski conditions. The park is managed in partnership with the USFS and the Everett Mountaineers.

Have a great day and keep coming back!

Stay Skookum!
