The much anticipated release of the latest installment of the PS4 exclusive Uncharted™ series is scheduled for March of 2016 and will be named, "Uncharted 4™: A Thief's End".

Fans of the game who purchased the recently remastered "Uncharted™: The Nathan Drake Collection" for PS4 were treated to an all-too-brief chance to experience the advanced graphics and smooth gameplay made possible by the newest generation of this iconic gaming platform.

Below is a link to the entirety of an uncut round of Team Deathmatch on the Madagascar City map. No transitions, no cuts, and no edits on this one. We get the full multiplayer round with this video.

This gameplay was captured during the first evening of the "Uncharted 4™: A Thief's End" Multiplayer Beta event using the SHAREfactory™ tool included with the PS4. The player skin of choice was that of the always wonderful and tough, Elena Fisher, in her "Island Elena" outfit with aviator glasses.

The game mechanics are very Naughty Dog for sure. Although this refreshing game's multiplayer mode might at first appear strongly reminiscent of the online gameplay from the highly acclaimed 2014 PS4 action-horror survival game, "The Last of Us™ Remastered", it quickly reminds the user that these familiar game mechanics as well as the graphics have been updated and enhanced to next-generation standards. Among many other things, this game adds an extreme vertical dimension to the action.

Initially, the "third-person" camera which follows behind the player seemed to produce a slight feeling of vertigo. Being that I almost immediately found myself swinging across a deep chasm on a thin rope which had me moving quickly and uneasily from one cliff's thin edge to another, those first moments of queasiness were probably an unquestionable testament to the visual realism presented by this game.

The maps are complex, challenging, beautifully rendered, and offer plenty of cover for the more strategic player. Strangely, the beta matches often included many contenders who chose to run out into the open or dangle clumsily from their own grappling gear. However, it was not long before the more tactical among the competitors began to use the plentiful cover and cleverly hidden flanking corridors to their advantage and quickly dominated the playing field.

The matchmaking engine seemed a little slow to find players and launch new rounds but these are among the many reasons that developers conduct beta tests. I expect that this will be improved by the time the full game is released in March of 2016 and it is truly the only negative thing to come to mind.

Overall, I found the game very satisfying, challenging, and unquestionably fun. That's extraordinary considering there was just one game mode and only two maps! Based solely on what I could hear from the in-game banter and from chatting with other players, this game is already a big hit.

Hopefully, the short video in the link above will satisfy the curious and spread the good word about this highly anticipated new offering from the Naughty Dog Uncharted™ series of award winning games. I feel privileged to have been able to participate in this rewarding experience.
