DOOM - How to Force PC DOOM to Recognize the PS4 Controller Under DS4Windows

How to Force PC DOOM to Recognize the PS4 Controller Under DS4Windows

- Video Link Below -
If you have already installed DS4Windows and have been using your controller successfully with most games but have found that DOOM and other games such as Dark Souls do not seem to recognize the controller then the information below may solve your problem.

If you do not have DS4Windows installed, there are links below which will assist you with getting DS4Windows downloaded and installed.

Do You Have DS4Windows Installed?

  • If you have already installed DS4Windows but are having problems getting PC games to recognize the controller then proceed to section titled "How to Get DOOM to Recognize the PS4 Controller."
  • If you have not installed DS4Windows then proceed to the second section labeled "How to Download and Install DS4Windows" for a link to a video on that topic.

How to Get DOOM to Recognize the PS4 Controller

By default, the DS4Windows service will advertise the presence of both an Xbox One Controller as well as the DS4 Controller whenever it is hosting a DS4.

You may have discovered that your DS4 Controller is not working with DOOM on your PC even though DS4Windows is running and works quite well with other games. You may have even noticed that the Controller option is "grayed out" in the DOOM Settings screen. Fear not! This is easy to correct.

Some games, such as DOOM and Dark Souls will fail to recognize that there is a controller present when DS4Windows publishes the fact that the DS4 Controller is online. This needs to be disabled in order for games like DOOM to be able to see the DS4.

DS4Windows Settings Tab

Go into the DS4Windows settings tab and look for the option labeled "Hide DS4 Controller" and check the box. This will tell DS4Windows to stop broadcasting the presence of the DS4. DOOM and several other games will now be able to recognize the DS4.

Click the video link to see this process and watch some bonus 4K UHD DOOM gameplay action!

How to Download and Install DS4Windows

If you have not already installed DS4Windows and would like to use your PS4's DS4 Controller, please click one of the links below for information about downloading and installing DS4Windows.

Battlefield 1 - Airship Down - Fall of a Behemoth

Watch as a mighty World War One era zeppelin is dealt it's final blow from the courageous hands of a land based anti-aircraft machine gunner.

- Video Link -
The bigger they are, the harder they fall. And, oh! How the mighty have fallen! Watch as this majestic airship, once used as an instrument of war, falls gracefully from the sky onto the battlefield below.

These airships once gave an enormous tactical advantage to both attackers and defenders. Their main weakness lies in their inability to move quickly enough to evade anti-aircraft fire. They also provided a rather large target area and were known for their incredible flammability.

Tragically, many civilians were lost during times of peace as these early aircraft, often referred to as zeppelins, went up in flames and took many innocent lives with them. We at Skookum Valley Gaming have the deepest respect and sympathy for those whose lives have been affected by such tragic loss. This footage is from a video game based in World War I (WWI).

How to Connect a PS4 DualShock Controller to a PC

Connect your favorite console game controller to your PC the easy way! Watch the video in the link below and learn how to connect your PlayStation 4 DualShock controller to your PC and start playing great games like Battlefield1 on your PC today!

- Video Link -
If you are like me and have been playing console games almost exclusively for many years, you may have found that making the transition from using a gaming controller to using a keyboard and mouse can be troublesome. There is definitely a learning curve.

Solve all of your problems with this one simple trick!

Get ahead of the curve and back into the action by simply connecting one of your existing console controllers to your PC. You can connect virtually any modern game controller to Windows by using a simple software application called DS4Windows.

If you are transitioning from Xbox to PC then the transition will be even smoother since Windows 10 natively supports the Xbox controller. Earlier versions of Windows will need a driver, however.

If you wish to connect a PlayStation 4 controller to PC, you will need to take the extra step of downloading and installing DS4Windows. This marvelous application will make your PS4 controller look like the Xbox One controller to Windows. It's that easy!

Just download the package from DS4Windows.com, unzip the archive and run the setup. The first time it runs it will ask a couple of questions such as where you would like to install your controller profiles. After that, it is good to go!

Eventually, becoming accustomed to the keyboard and mouse controls will have its advantages. But, if you just want to get gaming right away then grab your controller and let's get started!

REQUIRED HARDWARE:
 PlayStation 4 (PS4) Dualshock
USB cable to connect controller to PC
*Bluetooth can be used if your PC supports it

Although the DS4Windows software supports both Bluetooth and USB connectivity, it is recommended that you begin the process by first connecting via USB. After you have established that the software and controller are working correctly together, go ahead and try out Bluetooth!

REQUIRED SOFTWARE:
DS4Windows if using PS4 DualShock controller on Windows 10
*Xbox 360 drivers are required if your PC is running an older version of Windows

- This image owned by the DS4Windows Website -
BACKGROUND
Windows 10 already has built-in support for the Xbox 360 controller. This shouldn't be too surprising since the Xbox is basically a special purpose PC which runs Direct X. By the way, that also happens to be where the Xbox gets the the "X" in its name.

Because Windows 10 already supports the Xbox controller, you should be able to plug that controller directly into your PC using the appropriate USB cable and it should work without extra effort. If you are using an earlier version of Windows then you will need to download and install the appropriate driver. DS4Windows will take care of this for you when first launched.

If you wish to connect your PS4 Dualshock controller to your PC, this will require an extra piece of software. The required application is called DS4Windows and its job is to make Windows think your PS4 Dualshock controller is actually the Xbox 360 controller. I found this software and all of the instructions at the DS4Windows website (http://www.ds4windows.com).

At first, I was hesitant to install software from what I considered to be an unknown source. However, after some careful research, I arrived at the conclusion that this software is safe when downloaded straight from the source. It is strongly encouraged that this software be downloaded ONLY from ds4windows.com to ensure the authenticity of the package you are downloading.

Check out the video in the link below to have a look at the website and get a feel for what is needed to connect your PlayStation controller to your PC!

HOW TO DO IT
I was going to create a step-by-step tutorial to cover this but the DS4Windows website has a very simple and complete step-by-step guide. There is even a link to a related video on that website if you wish to see what the software looks like when first launched. My recommendation is to go directly to the DS4Windows website and check it out. Everything you need to know is right there.

NOTE: I strongly recommend using DS4Windows instead of other input mapping software because DS4Windows is proven safe and does not have any built-in advertising or associated bloat-ware.

This video contains Battlefield 1 gameplay that was made possible by using a PS4 controller on PC. Prior to connecting the console controller to the PC, gaming on PC was painful for me. Using the PS4 game controller on PC has brought me back into the competition and made gaming on the PC fun again!

I hope this video has helped someone else and perhaps even inspired another console player to try out gaming on PC.

Connecting a console controller to PC will definitely make things easier!

Rogue One DLC Confirmed for Star Wars Battlefront

- Click Here for Video -
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" has been spotted in the final DLC slot of the Star Wars Battlefront Multiplayer launch menu.

Just prior to launching the Death Star DLC for Star Wars Battlefront, I happened to notice that there was a name given to the final Expansion Pack Playlist slot on the multiplayer game menu. The name given is "Rogue One: Scarif"!

The highly anticipated Rogue One film is set in the Star Wars universe some time after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and shortly before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, the story centers on a group of Rebels who are on a mission to steal the vital plans for the Galactic Empire's infamous new weapon, the Death Star!

According to sources at EA DICE, the maps for the new DLC will be set on the tropical planet "Scarif". The main bad guy you see in the trailer will be the primary antagonist for this new expansion pack. Speculation is that there will be two added heroes, Jane Erso and the main bad guy we've already mentioned.

There has also been talk regarding the confirmation of the rumor that there will be more single-player action coming to the DLC packs. However, talking about the confirmation of rumors is really still just the rumor mill doing what it does best. We'll have to wait and see.

The short video in the link was taken from a longer gameplay video that I am currently putting together. This clip captures the moment that I noticed that the final DLC slot had been given a name. The commentary heard in the video was my initial reaction. The full length gameplay video and my overall review of the recently released Death Star Expansion Pack will be released soon. Stay Tuned!

Star Wars Battlefront - Death Star DLC | Visual Anomalies

- Click Here for Video -
"That's no moon. It's a space station."
--Obi-Wan Kenobi

Hello, Everyone! Welcome to Skookum Valley Gaming. I just wanted to get out a quick blog and video showing my first impressions of the new Star Wars Battlefront Death Star DLC that was released today to Season Pass members. A full highlights video and blog review will be posted later this week.

I have been loving this game since the first release! The first two DLC packages kept me fully engaged by thoroughly impressing me with the developer's attention to detail. Ever since the announcement of the Death Star DLC, I have been eagerly awaiting it's arrival.

While playing the game, some interesting visual anomalies were experienced. In one form of optical oddity, the respawn splash screen was unrecognizable. This can be seen in the video after the first death (at the 11 second mark). It goes by quickly but you can hear me say, "Yeah, that graphic's messed up."

Other visual side-effects seemed to occur mostly when making the transition between the space-based and ground-based battles while playing the new Battle Station game mode.

This intriguing new game mode is a clever variation on familiar themes which builds upon a mixture of space-based Fighter Squadron and ground based infantry battles. It looks like there may still be some wrinkles to iron out in the code which supports this new feature.

At first, I thought the cut-scene was glitching and was failing to render at the same high-resolution that we have come to enjoy in this rather ground-breaking game. You can see the first example at the 21 second mark where I say, "Man! What has happened here?" The visual anomaly prompted me to reset my PS4 because I thought memory was getting corrupted or something.

After the reset, I quickly returned to the same transition cut-scene and it looked just as bad each time. There is a similar cut-scene during the transition between the second and third phase of Battle Station where the gameplay returns to space based battles above the surface of the Death Star. This cut-scene (staring at 0:56) also has the same, strange, low-resolution (and kind of odd looking) graphical quality as the one between the first and second phases of the game mode.

Other anomalies were encountered during these transitions as I continued to play several rounds. Each time the transitions occurred, slightly different oddities would arise. Some of these included loss of sound (at 1:11) and other screen effects which you can see in the video in the link. Check out the incident where the top 1/3 of the screen goes white while the bottom 2/3 remains black for no apparent reason (at time 1:51).

...and why is the spinning load circle in the center of the screen and not down at the lower right?

My suspicion is that there is a really heavy context switch required between those phases of Battle Station. I'm thinking that swapping out one map for another while running the same game mode is something that was not built into the underlying software design. It probably requires a lot of resources and, being something new, is causing some unexpected and undesirable behavior. EA DICE will likely address this issue in a future patch and it's not a game changer or show stopper by any means.

I chatted with someone online who was also playing the game tonight. This user mentioned seeing the some problems and when I spoke about the anomalies that I was seeing, he said that he'd seen them too and was glad that I mentioned it because he thought maybe it was just him.

In any case, I really do appreciate the work that EA DICE has put into this truly remarkable and beautifully rendered game. However, I do think that something unfortunate has happened and perhaps this DLC was release just slightly prematurely. I'm hoping that there will be a patch coming soon and we can put all of this strangeness behind us.

Bonus Video Link! Another PS4 SWBF player posted a rather entertaining glitch. What happens when you respawn in space but the game forgets to give you a space ship? Click on the video frame to find out!

Battlefield 1 - Open Beta | Epic Postmortem 5X Multikill!

- Click Here for Video -
From spawn to post muerte, this video captures one of the more epic moments of battle that I have encountered while playing the Battlefield 1 beta. This may be a taste of things to come with the upcoming release of Battlefield 1 from game-makers EA DICE.

Definitely getting that BattleFeel from BF1!

I spawn into the game near the train station at D-Flag. The battle is already hot and heavy! Because there are tanks and other enemy vehicles in the vicinity, I immediately lay down some anti-tank (AT) mines. This turns out to have been a good move even though the effort did not save my own life.

After dropping the mines, I run around the railroad cars and find myself facing a heavily armored tank. There is little I can do but throw some anti-tank grenades at it and run for my life.

You will, however, see me try to shoot the tank in a futile attempt to finish off the damage and disable the vehicle. Eventually, I run for cover in the direction of the mines I had placed earlier (hoping to lure the tank to its demise).

I take heavy damage but manage to survive the battle with this particular tank. But the glory is short lived as I am quickly run over by another armored enemy vehicle. The battle was not quite lost, however.

The tank which ran me over continued to drive around the railroad cars and eventually drove over my AT mines. All on-board the vehicle were lost along with someone standing nearby. I'm not sure that more than four people could have been in that particular tank at one time.

Either way, my single death resulted in 5 enemy deaths. And that, my friends, is how to play the game!

This video was captured on a PlayStation 4 (PS4) using the Elgato HD60 game capture device and a Blue Yeti microphone. It was edited using Sony Movie Studio 13 Platinum.

So far my experience with playing the Battlefield 1 beta has been truly great. If anything, it has convinced me to pre-order the full game.

Looking forward to seeing you on the Battlefield!

Battlefield 1 - Open Beta | 4X Multikill with AT Mine!

- Click Here for Video -
Walked into some heavy Battlefield 1 action near the antenna tower at C flag and immediately set some anti-tank (AT) mines. Started taking heavy damage from bullets and poison gas so I ditched it near a wall hoping to recover some hit points before someone noticed me.

As I got up and made my way over to some nearby cover, I see one of the enemy vehicles return to the area. Luckily, they ran right over one of my AT mines and the entire vehicle was destroyed. There were no survivors.

This action landed me my first 4X multikill in Battlefield 1. It was awesome to see because I was not expecting to take out that many enemy soldiers at once.

So far my experience with playing the Battlefield 1 beta has been truly great. If anything, it has convinced me to pre-order the full game. The pre-order option that I chose will allow me to access the game a few days early. The game is going to be released to the public on Friday October 21, 2016. With the pre-order, I will be able to start playing on Tuesday October 18, 2016!

Battlefield 1 - Open Beta | Killed in Action!

- Click Here for Video -
Warning: Do not drive your vehicle directly into the ammo depot. Failure to follow these guidelines may cause severe injury including death.

Battlefield 1 is chock full of that Battlefeel!!!

I was driving my vehicle rather erratically and ended up crashing into a stash of bombs in the Ammo Depot at the G-Flag. The resulting explosion caught me so off guard that I dropped a G-Rated F-Bomb!

Oh, my goodness! This game is awesome and DICE has definitely paid attention to detail. I was not expecting that they would code the game with such logical precision that running into a stockpile of ammunition with a vehicle would lead to total destruction of the vehicle and a premature death.

It stands to reason that driving directly into a pile of bombs would be dangerous and ill-advised but it's something that previous game developers seemed to have allowed to occur all of the time. I guess it's time to stop assuming I can do careless things and not have to pay the price. Those days are long gone with the introduction of Battlefield 1 and this version of the Frostbite engine.

My hat is off to the folks staying up late at night and working long hours over there at EA DICE. Thank you for this glimpse at what appears to be an epic new game. If the full release lives up the the impact of the beta then you can bet your sweet jeep that I'll be staying up late on many, many nights battling for the wins with the awesome community that has grown up around this fantastic franchise!

Battlefield 1 - Open Beta | Operation Dead-Eye!

- Click Here for Video -
Here's a quick BF1 video which begs the question, "Was this a great shot with the rifle on horseback or did I simply pull off a WW1 era Han Solo Lucky Shot?"

...looks a little more like Indiana Jones actually.

This Battlefield 1 multiplayer beta gameplay video opens with my soldier riding in on horseback with a barrage of tracer rounds whizzing by his ears. Upon nearing the flag, I see a sniper off in the distance. While still in the process of drawing a quick bead on the distant shooter, I squeezed the trigger and pulled off an amazing single-shot kill.

I believe that the enemy had already been hit by other gunfire and had their health points reduced prior to my shot but, still, it was awesome to see the sniper fall after a single, well-timed, rifle blast.  The rewards displayed on the HUD tell the full story.

The rendering and game mechanics realized in the horses is simply amazing. The action is smooth and the horses are incredibly realistic. It's almost like playing a remastered version of Red Dead Redemption that somehow stumbled upon the Battlefields of the First World War! Did I mention that this game is tons of fun? I've only been able to play on one map and I'd gladly go back to the same map right now if I could. But, like most everyone else, I will have to wait patiently until the release date later in October of this year. ...in the meantime, I'll be surfing the YouTubes looking for more BF1 gameplay videos.

Skill or Lucky Shot? You decide!

Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Battlefield 1 - Open Beta | Dynamite Action!

- Click Here for Video -
I just wanted to drop a short note saying how excited I am to have been able to participate in the Battlefield 1 Open Beta and also be able to get in on the action one day early! I've been loving every minute of gameplay since launching it on my PS4 earlier today.

At this stage the beta has one very large map allowing up to 64 players to engage in a Conquest mode battle in the Sinai Desert. A second game mode, Battlefield's classic Rush, allows as many as 24 players to face each other in WWI style combat.

So far I am quite impressed with this game release. Never before have I seen a console game which allowed for 64 players at a time to be on the same map simultaneously. Also unseen in the past is the level of game customization that this PS4 release is capable of supporting. And I haven't even begun to rave about the high definition graphics and awesome soundscape!

The linked video is just a small shadow of the amazing audio-visual experience and game mechanics offered by EA DICE for this round of Battlefield. I will have more videos and a full review coming soon. Stay tuned!

Uncharted 4: Who is Henry Avery?

"I am a man of fortune, and I must seek my fortune."
--Henry Avery, 1694

Who is Henry Avery and why does Uncharted 4: A Thief's End begin with one of his quotes? Keep reading and you'll find out!

Below is a link to the first Live Commentary gameplay video produced by Skookum Valley Gaming! This is the Prologue, or first level, of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. It's a short level which is meant to introduce the player to the game's controls and drop some hints regarding the story that is about to unfold. So, sit right back and you'll hear a tale!

Henry Avery (public domain image)
The game begins with a reference to Henry Avery, sometimes erroneously referred to as John Avery, who was an English pirate that operated in the Atlantic and Indian oceans in the mid-1690s. Avery was one of the few major pirate captains to retire and keep his loot without being arrested or killed in battle. He was notorious for being the perpetrator of what has been called the most profitable pirate raid in history.

Henry Avery's crimes were so damaging to international relations that he became the subject of the first worldwide manhunt in history. Yet Avery eluded capture and vanished from all records in 1696. His whereabouts and activities after this period are unknown. Unconfirmed accounts state he may have changed his name and retired; quietly living out the rest of his life in either Britain or an unidentified tropical island. He is believed to have passed away sometime after 1696. Historian Colin Woodard states that Avery, in trying to launder his riches to currency, had been outsmarted by wealthy landowners and "died a poor beggar not being able to afford his own coffin."[15] Many fortune seekers, to this day, believe that Avery's treasure is still out there waiting to be found. Is it Avery's loot that Nathan Drake and his brother are seeking on this last great Uncharted adventure?

Woodcut by Charles Ellms
I highly recommend reading the Wikipedia page on "Henry Every" (aka Henry Avery) to gain some background on this historical figure as it may enhance the gameplay and deepen the realism of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Everybody loves a good backing story!

In the video linked below you will see a beautifully rendered nighttime boat chase and gun battle. The scene begins right in the middle of the action with many small boats chasing Nathan and his brother, Sam, in very rough seas. They appear to be racing toward an island in hopes of escaping their would-be captors. A larger boat arrives to further complicate a battle that is already fraught with guns, grenade launchers, and knife-wielding thugs.

Uncharted 4: Waiting to Get Back in the Game

- Video Link -
Here in Skookum Valley we are patiently awaiting our chance to get back into the game and back into the Uncharted World of Nathan Drake. The story on the street is that Naughty Dog has stated that this is the final chapter of the Uncharted series of games. The fact of this matter may be evident in one of the teaser trailers where we hear Victor Sullivan say, "Just one last time." If they execute this game well and end it properly then it may be for the best. Here in Skookum Valley, we believe that all is truly well that ends well. We tip our hats to Naughty Dog, Elena, Nathan, and Sully as we join them on what might just be their final adventure.

The internet is already filling with Uncharted 4 gameplay videos even though the official release is not until tomorrow (which might already be today by the time this blog is posted). Some lucky players were treated with boxed versions of the game that were released one day early for reasons unknown. In Skookum Valley we also believe that some mysteries are best left unsolved. Therefore, the folks around here don't ask too many questions. Instead, we just enjoy what comes our way whenever it arrives.

The official copy of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End which is destined for the valley is scheduled to arrive sometime before 8pm. We're hoping to get a chance to capture some gameplay as soon as possible and report back to the world our first impressions of this much anticipated game. Until such time as the Uncharted game arrives here in the valley, we would like to entertain you with a video which was put together using bits and pieces of the three official Uncharted 4 release trailers. The video was created in an attempt to capture the feelings we are experiencing in Skookum Valley while waiting to get back to the world of the Nathan Drake and back into the Uncharted Series of video games. We know Nathan wants back in the game and we know for certain that Sully can always be talked back into the game. Here in Skookum Valley we are waiting patiently until the hour of return is upon us.

The video in the link above constitutes our first attempt at creating a full HD gaming video at 60 fps using Sony Movie Studio in place of the SHAREfactory application which comes standard with the PS4. This video heralds the beginning of a new era of enhanced video quality at Skookum Valley Gaming. This advancement has been made possible by the acquisition of a new 1080p 60 fps video capture device that will soon be grabbing PS4 and other console gameplay with resolutions and frame rates never before seen in Skookum Valley. NVIDIA's ShadowPlay technology will be helping out on the PC side of the gaming world. Things are looking up in Skookum Valley!

Until next time, we hope you enjoy our short little reinterpretation of the "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" teaser trailers. For the next several hours, we too will be waiting to get back in the game.

Have a great time playing Uncharted 4!  Keep coming back!

Wampa Sighting! | Star Wars Battlefront Easter Egg

- Video Link -
Turn on, tune in, and go in search of The Wampa! Join Pilchuck of Skookum Valley and very special guest, StarKiller180535, as they uncover one of the greatest mysteries in the mountains of Hoth.

The Wampa is a prime example of the Skookum family of mountain monsters. On Earth this creature is known as the Yeti or the Abominable Snowman.

Over the centuries since it was first reported, this mysterious animal has been seen by many people and has been known by many names. The exclusive video found in the link below provides irrefutable evidence of the existence of this elusive entity.

The Skookum family also includes the large, hairy beings known as the Sasquatch, or as they are called in some places, the Bigfoot. Wherever you find remote and untouched wilderness, you will always find Skookum. It is probably safest not to mention the topic when Chewbacca is around but many galactic anthropologists believe that the Wookie are members of the ancient Skookum family.

In this video, I rather accidentally learned of this awesome Star Wars Battlefront Easter Egg. After dying a rather untimely and seemingly pointless death, I respawned into a surprising locale. My team mate, StarKiller180535, had ventured off to go spelunking and, much to my excitement, when I spawned into the cave with him, I saw a prime specimen of the elusive Wampa munching on some Tauntaun bones right before my eyes!

The cave is found on the "Twilight on Hoth" map and you can only reach the cave when you are playing on the side of the Imperial Empire during the Walker Assault game mode.

In the middle of the video, I peer out from the cave and you can see the initial spawn point for the Imperial forces. This is the first clue to the whereabouts of the Wampa Cavern. Enlarge the image below to get a bearing on the cave's location.

Try to find this cave very early in the match as you have only a limited time to locate and explore this Easter Egg. Once the AT-AT's reach the first set of uplink stations, your time is up and the part of the map which includes the Wampa will suddenly become out-of-bounds. Get there quickly and get there with a partner if you wish to get up close to the Wampa.

In a future video, I will show you how to get to the cave and see the Wampa for yourself. The video will also explain how to go beyond the stalactites so that you can get an up-close, over the shoulder selfie with a true living fossil from a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away!

A special thanks goes out to StarKiller180535 for showing me this awesome extra detail in Star Wars Battlefront's "Twilight on Hoth" map!

Tom Clancy's The Division™ Beta | First Look Review

(see video link below)
Here is a first peak at the highly anticipated Tom Clancy's The Division™ which is set to be released on March 8, 2016.

It is reported that some 6.4 million people played the beta. That's an incredible turnout and it shows how much excitement there is surrounding the arrival of this game.

When first announced, The Division™ generated a lot of buzz with claims that it was a true "next-gen" masterpiece. While I enjoyed playing it, I did not get the feeling that I was playing something that was quite so noteworthy. The graphics are very well done and the gameplay is quite smooth but it seems that I just didn't encounter those elements which were supposed to make this release the darling of next-generation gaming.

Perhaps I have been spoiled by recent games which have implemented the kind of stunning visuals seen in offerings such as Star Wars™ Battlefront™ which, at times, seem to immerse the player in a photograph or high definition movie. Even the aging Battlefield 4, in my humble opinion, offers a much more engaging and immersive experience than was offered by The Division's beta demonstration.

Take a first look at The Division™ by clicking on the frame above.

To be fair, it is important to remember that the beta is not the final version of the game. There may be elements that I have not yet seen or experienced. Other reviewers speak of the game being vastly more satisfying when played with friends. I stuck with the single-player mission and did not venture into the Dark Zone where, quite possibly, everyone was having all of the fun.

Although I very much enjoyed the beta and will likely get a kick out of the game when it is officially released, I was not enthralled enough to pre-order the game. There are so many great games to play and so very little time to play them. This one can wait until the full game is released and there's a chance to see some reviews and gameplay videos produced by other gamers.

In full disclosure, many people who are excited about this game also continue to rave about Destiny™. While that game, too, looked visually stunning and had smooth gameplay and wonderful mechanics, it always felt like I was playing a game that wasn't quite done yet. It seemed like something was missing and the story, itself, just kind of disappeared after only a few levels. I was never quite sure what to make of that game either.

Enjoy a round of Destiny™ by clicking on the frame above.

If The Division™ proves to be a lot like a version of Destiny™ set in the "almost real" world then I can see why playing with others might greatly enhance the game. The most fun I had playing Destiny™ was when playing with a friend. When venturing alone, I usually ended up deciding that my limited time for gaming was best spent playing something else.

I hope that this review will prove useful to people interested in knowing more about Tom Clancy's The Division™. I also hope that my comments do not upset anyone or otherwise rain on any parades. My opinions are just opinions and should never be confused with facts. I could be completely wrong and this may be the best game I'll play this year. Let me know what you think in the comment section below.

Here's to another great year!

Star Wars™ Battlefront™ Skywalker Hero | Graveyard of Giants

(see below for video link)
Are you curious to know what it's like to be Luke Skywalker? Have you ever wanted to fight amidst the wreckage of Imperial Starships and AT-AT Walkers on the surface of the debris strewn deserts of Jakku? Then sit back and enjoy this three and a half minute uncut hero run from the widely popular Star Wars™ Battlefront™.

The "Graveyard of Giants" map on which this video was captured represents the setting of the Battle of Jakku. This infamous battle was reported to have occurred one year and four days after the Battle of Endor and was waged between the forces of the New Republic and the Galactic Empire.

Enjoy a round of Star Wars™ Battlefront™ by clicking on the frame above.

Although the Rebels were victorious, Luke Skywalker payed the ultimate price and was killed by debris which fell from a destroyed AT-AT at the bitter end of the battle. Wait! What?! This must be footage from one of those J.J. Abrams alternate universes! It's just a game. It doesn't have to make sense. :-)
